Roller garage doors are among the most popular styles on the market, so there’s no shortage of companies selling them. Imports, resellers, middlemen – from the outside, it can be hard to see what separates one supplier from the next.
We’ve been manufacturing and installing roller doors from our workshop in Bishop’s Waltham since 2010.
Below, we run through what pushes Skandoor G91 far ahead of the competition.
The quality of a roller garage door comes down to materials and construction. Cheap components and shortcut assembly produce a door that shows its age within a few years – rattling, fading, or struggling to open smoothly in cold weather.
Our G91 is built from components chosen to last:
● CFC-free, foam-filled polyester powder-coated aluminium laths
● A 25mm nylon webbing and riveting system of our own design
● Polyester powder-coated boxed aluminium guide rails
● Rubber and brushed seals running the length of every rail
The system was designed in Scandinavia to handle extreme weather, which means it copes with the UK effortlessly, with exceptional long-term durability.
A well-built door is bound to disappoint if the fitting team doesn’t know what they’re doing – and we’ve witnessed how this is a common problem.
That’s why every Skandoor installation is carried out by our own trained fitters – the same team every day, working with roller garage doors they’ve fitted hundreds of times.
They know the mechanisms, the structural details, and the finishing touches that separate a tip-top, clean install from a rough-and-ready one.
Our fitters arrive early and aim to complete the job in a single day, including any structural work, brickwork, and a full tidy-up before they leave.
An electric roller garage door endures all conditions. It opens and closes thousands of times over its lifespan – often on a cold, wet morning when the last thing you need is a door sticking halfway up.
Ours are designed for that. The motor is rated to handle the door weight comfortably, the seals keep draughts and water out, and the curtain itself doesn’t warp, rattle, or fade.
Maintenance tends to be minimal – most customers go years without needing anything more than a wipe-down and a cursory visual check.
Warranties tell you what a manufacturer thinks of their own work. Cheap roller doors often come with limited cover and exclusions that make claims painful. Every Skandoor G91 comes with comprehensive coverage as standard:
● 10-year curtain warranty
● 3-year motor warranty
● One-year parts and labour guarantee
● Direct after-sales support from our own team
If something does go wrong – and it rarely does – we handle it ourselves. No chasing a third-party supplier, no waiting for parts from abroad, no being bounced between the installer and the manufacturer.
Because we made the door and we fitted it, the responsibility sits with us.
We’ve installed hundreds of roller garage doors across Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Surrey, Berkshire, West Sussex, and the wider south of England.
The vast majority of our work comes through recommendations, which, in our trade, says more than any marketing claim could.

One day, start to finish. Our team arrives in the morning, removes the old door, installs the new G91, and completes any brickwork and tidy-up before leaving. You’ll be handed a working door the same afternoon.
Yes. The laths are foam-filled with CFC-free insulation, improving thermal performance and reducing operating noise. If your garage is attached to the house or used as a workshop or gym, the insulation makes a noticeable difference through the colder months.
We stock a wide range from the RAL European and British Standards collections, plus custom powder coating for anything specific – matching your front door, windows, or cladding. Colour-matching is quoted per project.
Decades, with normal use. Our 10-year curtain warranty and 3-year motor warranty reflect the build quality, and many of the doors we installed in our earliest years are still in service today.
Yes. We handle all servicing, callouts, and parts for every Skandoor door directly. If something needs attention, you contact us rather than chasing a third party.
